Muscle Shoals Middle School - “Where the Trojan Band Begins!”

Music Education is a vital part of becoming an educated person and preparing for life.  In the MSMS band we teach creative and critical thinking, problem solving, and individual responsibility every day. These lessons are inherent in every music class and these skills will benefit these students as they continue their educational career. Also, students learn interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and influence a group to work together toward a common goal for their common good.

Every student will gain an appreciation of music and become informed consumers in their long lasting enjoyment of music. Our goal is that every student will become the very finest player he/she is capable of becoming.  Through the process of progressing as an individual player and member of a performing ensemble, each student will gain an understanding of how music is put together as a composition. Our students will also gain a respect for great performers and performances as we discover the demands of great music on the individual in preparing and performing.

The city of Muscle Shoals has a rich musical history and so does our band program! Students are eligible to participate in the band program at the beginning of 6th grade all the way through 8th grade.  Our 7th and 8th graders can also participate in the MSMS Jazz Band!
