Welcome

Muscle Shoals Middle School (MSMS) has a unique history tied to the evolving educational needs of its community. When its doors first opened in 1970, the building actually served as the high school for Muscle Shoals, housing students in grades 9 through 12. This arrangement continued for nearly three decades until the current high school was constructed in 1999. At that point, the building transitioned into Muscle Shoals Middle School, welcoming students in grades 6 through 8 who previously attended McBride Middle School (now McBride Elementary).

Today, MSMS serves an average of 625 students and employs around 60 dedicated faculty and staff members. To accommodate a growing student population, a ten-room addition was built in 2008 specifically to house the sixth-grade class. This expansion reflects the school's commitment to providing a supportive and spacious learning environment for its students as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of early adolescence. 

Navigating middle school can be a complex journey for both students and their families. It's a time of tremendous growth and discovery, filled with exciting possibilities and new challenges. At Muscle Shoals Middle School, we understand this unique period in a young person's life, and we take pride in providing a supportive environment where students can thrive.

Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to helping each student find their place, explore their passions, and develop a strong work ethic. We encourage them to embrace their individuality while fostering a sense of responsibility and compassion towards others. We believe that these formative years are crucial in laying the foundation for success in high school and beyond.

More than just academics, we strive to cultivate well-rounded individuals. Our goal is for every student who walks through our doors to leave MSMS with a deep sense of self-worth and the confidence to pursue their dreams. We want them to remember their time here fondly, knowing they were nurtured academically, socially, and emotionally, and equipped with the tools to reach their full potential.
